“Snehalaya” – Silver Jubilee

   January 19, 2023

Let your soul find joy in the mercy of the Lord, And do not be ashamed to praise him.” (Sir 51/30)

A Jubilee is a time for celebration, a time for introspection and a time to look ahead with renewed vigour and vision. The Silver Jubilee of Snehalaya St.Anne’s Convent was a joyous occasion and a special milestone in the annals of the history of our Congregation. This convent and student sisters’ Hostel has been a symbol of Christian witness for a long time and to our great surprise more than 208 sisters from different Congregations have completed their theological studies and successfully launched their different fields through their Congregation. More than 140 students stayed and resumed their studies in different colleges. On the other hand, Snehalaya St. Anne’s convent provides formation for beginners.

This lovely home celebrated its silver Jubilee on 19th January 2023. His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Peter Machado, Arch Bishop of Bangalore, blessed the Grotto of OUR LADY OF HOPE and celebrated the Holy Mass. Superior General Rev. Sr. Reginal unveiled the stone. After the holy Mass Sr. Edwige superior of Snehalaya thanked the Archbishop.

Followed by that small cultural program that had been organized.  The Superior General presided over the function. Msgr. Francis, Vicar General was the chief guest and they enlightened us through their thought-provoking message. Rev. Fr. Ponthokkan Bosco SDB the Rector of Kristu Jyoti College, felicitated and explained how our sisters worked in Kristu Jyoti college. Sr. Mariammal and Sr. Ankitha felicitated with much enthusiasm. The Hostel sisters sang a Jubilee song and presented a colourful dance. Candidates also danced joyously. The Silver Jubilee Souvenir was released by Msgr. Francis. Sr. Dercy and Sr. Arul Nimsha led the program excellently. The function came to an end followed by delicious lunch.

Our Superior General Rev. Mother Reginal, Arockiya Province Provincial Superior Sr. Plasilda, sisters from nearby communities, Rectors of Kristu Jyoti College and Visvadeep’ along with other Salesian priests and also the fathers and sisters, brothers from different communities came and graced the function.
