Jayaraj Annapackiam College for Women (Autonomous), Periyakulam had its grand finale of its Golden Jubilee on 1, December 2021 with great joy, retrospection and gratitude. The year that was made fruitful and meaningful through various academic, spiritual and cultural activities culminated in a gala celebration.

The boundless mercies and grace of God and His providence these fifty years were gratefully remembered and a full-day adoration and prayer was taken up at the college chapel on 29th October 2021.  Respect and prayers were offered in the manimandapam of Mother Annammal and the final resting places of Mother Lucy Crescentia Mary, Mother Paul Vency, Sister Clarence and donor Mr. Jayaraj Chelladurai. As a prelude to the Grand Finale and to evoke God’s blessings, on 30th November another full day of Adoration was observed at the college chapel.

On 1 December 2021, the college was abuzz with excitement and festivities. All the preparations were carried out under the meticulous supervision of the Principal, Sr. Dr. S. Jesurani and Secretary Sr. Dr. B. J. Queensly Jeyanthi. The Guests of Honour, Most Rev. Dr. Antony Pappusamy, the Archbishop of Madurai,  Rev. Mother Rajeenal, the Mother General of St. Anne of Trichirapalli and President of the College, Rev. Sr. R. Antoniammal, the Provincial, Maria Province and Vice President of the College and Mr. C. Jayapaul from the Donor’s family were given a ceremonial welcome with a guard of honour. The Golden Jubilee Memorial Building which was named Canisius Vimala Chelladurai Building was inaugurated by Most. Rev. Dr. Antony Pappusamy.The inauguration was followed by a solemn-sung Holy Mass. The Coffee Table Book, “Fifty Years of Serving with Love: The Journey” that captures the quintessence of JAC, the Audio CD, “Neeye Aatharam” and the Video Documentary that charts the monumental growth of the college, “Annal Kuntrin Anaiyaa Vizhakku” were released.

The Grand Finale proceeded into the evening with Rev. Dr. Francis P. Xavier, Rector, Loyola Institutions, Chennai as the Chief Guest. The Golden Jubilee Souvenir and the Tamil Chronicle of the college that records the college history with accuracy and care, “Kuntril Oru Deepam” were released. Retired staff members were honoured and warm felicitations were offered by Mother General, Mother Provincial, Former Principals and Secretaries of JAC, well-wishers, alumna and parent representative. The programme had a fitting ending with a magnificent display of Indian and folk cultural dance that showcased the immense talents of the students.
